No point in keeping my type anonymous anymore - I also have a blog about being an INFP called Being INFP.
And, if you’re interested, I have a personal blog as well. Enjoy!

Myers-Briggs Thoughts and Ideas

I think Hermione Granger is an ISFJ, what about you? She's not very outgoing, she does not like the break the rules and she really respects authority, she pretty much acts out on her feelings, and she's very organized

I’ve thought about that before. My initial impression was that she’s an INFJ, but I could easily see her being an ISFJ. You make some good points. I’d have to reread some of the books with MBTI in mind, I think, to have any strong opinion about it.

Wow, I haven't posted many things of value on this blog in a while.

I’ve been so distracted, I’ve hardly had time to think much about Myers-Briggs.

Well, that’s not true. I’m always thinking about Myers-Briggs. But organizing my thoughts is another thing.

Still thinking about Tom Hardy, though. I’m not completely satisfied with ENTP as his type. And Emma Watson. I think she’s probably an INFJ, but it’s hard to tell. And fictional characters, like Jay Gatsby, who I think might be an ENFP… but I’m only halfway through the book, so who knows.

Maybe he is a little of both. I think I am a combination that is why I make the suggestion. I know that the idea seems odd but I think that like in most categorical methods this is not fool proof and not everyone will fit perfectly into the same labels

It’s possible. I believe that everyone has a bit of everything in them. So it’s possible for someone to have many characteristics of 2 specific myers-briggs types at once. However, I personally believe that everyone ultimately falls under one type, when everything is considered (temperament, functions, etc). But of course, many people believe otherwise! Thanks for the input!

Hardly Tom

Yeah, I think Tom Hardy’s an ENTP again. (Sorry for the awful cheesy post title.)

I guess I’ll never really know. Obviously. But I don’t think he’s an ISTP.

None of you will take me seriously on anything anymore because I’ve changed my opinion on the matter about 5 times. Sorry about that.
:)

But Tom Hardy’s brain is extraverted intuition (Ne), in my opinion. Constantly jumping from one possibility to another, interested in concepts, ideas and elements of the imagination. I think yes, he earns the type ENTP quite well.

wendyloulou reblogged this from you and added:

Haha, I suppose so!

You know what? The responses people gave me and a little more research have convinced me. Tom Hardy is probably an ISTP.

He and Ryan Gosling, man. I’ll admit, my 2 biggest celebrity crushes at the moment. Why isn’t Hardy an INTP?
I suppose it’s hard to...

mik3ni replied to your post: Hardy Tom

Why isn’t Hardy an INTP?

I suppose it’s hard to explain. I’ll try, though.

I don’t think he’s… “inwardly focused”? in the same way that INTPs are. That’s really vague, and it’s because I don’t actually have any specific evidence to back it up. It’s just something I gather from watching him in interviews and such.

I think, if he’s an E, then he’s an ENTP. If he’s an I (which I’m starting to lean toward more and more), then he’s an ISTP.

Hardy Tom

kikotsu answered your question: Tom Hardy,

My vote is that he’s an I not an E.

I think he’s an I.

2-fish answered your question: Tom Hardy,

my vote is that he’s xSTP. he doesn’t have enough Ne to be ENTP, and he’s definitely not INTP.

Yeah, he doesn’t strike me as an INTP at all. I could easily be convinced that he’s an ISTP, but not so much an ESTP.

I’m actually inclined to believe he’s an I as well. The only reason I didn’t suggest ISTP before is that I was 60% sure he’s an N. But, 60% isn’t much to go off of.

Thanks for the responses!

Tom Hardy,

I think, is an ENTP. This hypothesis is only based on a few interviews I’ve seen with him.

He is definitely a thinker. There’s no question. And based on just observation and things he says in his interviews, lifestyle, etc., he strikes me as an -NTP. The only reason I give him an E rather than an I is that he’s more outspoken and comfortable with people than many INTPs that I know. INTPs can be very gregarious (probably due to their inferior function, Fe) at times. But he seems, to me, more extraverted than introverted. He also reminds me a lot of some ENTPs that I’ve met, so I guess I’m a bit biased there.

What do you think?

I think Emma Watson is an NF.

gillianbdshaw:

Not completely sure, obviously, but I really think so. I also think she’s a J, with Fe. I can’t decide if she’s introverted or extraverted, though.

She could also be an ENFP though. I could see that. Maybe.

You’re probably an ENFP.

I am fascinated about learning about my type, and learning about other people's types and learning more about them through learning more about their type. On many forums it seems that people seem to have an idea that an ESFJ can't be an internet person, and while the internet isn't my life, it is an important aspect of it.

I don’t think it’s weird for you to be interested in Myers-Briggs. One of my best friends is an ESFJ and she is very interested in MBTI. I think forums are probably more likely to attract introverts because it’s a way for them to express opinions without having the social pressure that extraverts usually cope with more easily. But I don’t think it’s fair to assume that ESFJs can’t be “internet people”. To be honest, I think introverts can be a little pretentious sometimes about being introverted (I say this as an introvert).

Anyways, the internet is an amazing resource. I love it. It’s an excellent way to learn, interact, etc. Which ESFJs love doing. So the short answer is yes, I think it’s normal. :)

Isxp blogs?

None that I know of. Why do you think an INTJ would go into this field, considering they tend to not be extremely warm or aware of others' feelings?

I don’t know, that might be something that can’t be attributed to Myers-Briggs. I don’t think that a desire to help and connect and understand others can always be linked to someone’s type. I know an INTJ who is a teacher and they love it - their passion in life is to learn and to help others learn. And sometimes having a Thinker in a position like that can be helpful to people who are constantly talking about their feelings. It could offer a new perspective and prevent said therapist from getting too emotionally involved in the lives of their patients. Which can be a positive thing.

Honestly though, I don’t know. I’m trying my best here, but I could be way off. Interesting question, thanks for sharing.
